Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.

Do you feel stuck? Overwhelmed? Perhaps hopeless, angry, or confused? Kate Volkman is dedicated to your healing and growth. It is her promise to come alongside of you with dignity and respect to meet your unique needs and goals.
Individuals.
This one-on-one therapeutic process is specifically catered to each client’s goals. Kate does not approach counseling with a “one size fits all” mentality; instead, she utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques with flexibility and creativity in mind. She has worked with a variety of clients including those wrestling with depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, abuse, ADHD, low self-esteem, existential crisis, regret, grief, career challenges/direction, and identity formation.
Families.
Since a family consists of multiple individuals with different personalities and values, conflict can easily arise. In family counseling, Kate works to identify patterns of communication and conflict that contribute to distress in a member of the family or the family system as a whole. She works with the family to find new ways to communicate which honor each member’s individuality alongside the unity of the family as whole.
Couples.
Whether you are dating, engaged, newly married or married for a long time, it’s not unusual for couples to experience challenges that require professional guidance. With couples counseling, the relationship itself is considered the client. Kate’s goal is to increase intimacy and build trust in order to overcome conflict. She works with couples to build more effective communication skills which will deepen mutual respect and understanding.
Groups.
Group counseling is a great alternative to individual counseling. Studies have shown that group counseling is just as effective as individual counseling. It is an opportunity for clients to practice vulnerability, develop relational skills, and heal through the compassion of others walking through similar realities.
